For architects, engineers & contractors

YOUR TEAM MEMBERS & LEADERS HAVE BUILT HUNDREDS OF PROJECTS. A NONPROFIT IS ABOUT TO Build ITS FIRST.

Sponsor a Project Shepherd. Lend one experienced person and help a nonprofit get its most important building right.

WHO ARE PROJECT SHEPHERDS?

Every Building Dream Needs a Guide

Nonprofit leaders know how to run their missions. When the building decisions
start piling up, they need someone with experience on their side. Your firm has those people. A Project Shepherd is an experienced architect, engineer, or builder who volunteers through ShareBuilt to guide a nonprofit’s leaders through a building
project.

ShareBuilt, which was founded and is supported by AEC professionals, trains them, matches them with a nonprofit partner whose project fits their experience, and guides them the whole way. Your team member gives advice. They don’t do the work. The nonprofit stays in charge of every decision, and it hires and pays its own architect, engineer, and contractor.

GIVE YOUR BEST PEOPLE A PROJECT THEY’LL TALK ABOUT FOR YEARS

Work That Matters

When companies give employees a meaningful way to serve, those team members stay more engaged and are far less likely to leave.

Leaders Who Listen

Project Shepherds get better at listening, explaining, and spotting risk. Those skills come straight back to your clients.

A Reputation Earned at Home

In stories each nonprofit approves, your firm’s name appears alongside the food pantries, clinics, and youth centers that make your community stronger.

Clients Notice Firms That Give Back

The people who hire AEC firms are paying attention to how firms show up in their communities. So are the people who might come to work for you.

Nominate Your People

Choose professionals with sound judgment and a knack for explaining things. One is a great start.

We Train Them

Your nominees complete about four hours of ShareBuilt training on how nonprofits make decisions, how their financials work, and how to guide them without taking over.

We Match and Support Them

Each Project Shepherd is matched with a nonprofit partner whose project fits their
experience, and ShareBuilt is a phone call away the whole time.

EVERY FIRM IS FIGHTING FOR THE SAME PEOPLE

AEC firms can influence how fast their firm can grow. The firms that win are the ones that experienced professionals want to join and don’t want to leave. Your people want to give more.

COMMON QUESTIONS

No. Project Shepherds volunteer their time as advisors, but they don’t design, engineer, estimate, or build. The nonprofit hires and pays its own AECs for that work.

It starts with about four hours of training. You decide how much volunteer time to approve, and each Project Shepherd agrees to a set number of hours a month before being matched.

There is no fee. A gift to support ShareBuilt’s mission is welcome but never required.
